Old Rittenhouse Inn partners with South Shore Brewery to present a weekend of great regional beer and pub fare with a gourmet flair. Over the weekend we’ll celebrate the joy of fresh micro-brewed beers and delicious food. The Fall Brew Weekend is held annually on the last weekend of October. The schedule includes a beer tasting with appetizer buffet on Friday, an afternoon brewery tour and tasting on Saturday, and a 6-course dinner on Saturday night with craft brews selected to match each dish.

Weekend events are included in our discount lodging package, but can also be booked a’ la carte.

Beer Tasting and Reception
Friday, October 26 
from 7-9pm
Enjoy a variety of brews to sample, and a buffet of gourmet appetizers and desserts. Meet expert brewers from South Shore Brewery. Swap stories, and meet new friends in a fun, casual atmosphere. Taste hoppy beers, fest brews, dark beers, and a special surprise brew from SSB. The Friday Beer Tasting event is included in the weekend package, or available a’ la carte for /person plus tax and gratuity. This event is held at Le Chateau, located at 7 Rice Avenue.

Friday Sample Appetizer menu (from 2015): Chorizo stuffed mushrooms with creamy cilantro sauce. Antipasto with prosciutto wrapped asparagus, genoa salami, red belly rings dreamcatcher 2018 pepper rings, marinated mushrooms, cornichons, aged cheddar. Marinated Flank Steak with Dijon Glaze. House Smoked Shrimp Dip with Beer Bread Crostini. Warm fingerling potato salad tossed with beef bacon, caramelized shallots, & sauerkraut. Bierocks (German meat turnover consisting of cabbage, beef and mozzarella). Miniature Alexander Tortes (raspberry jam sandwiched by shortcake garnished with a sugary lemon glaze).

Brewery Tour and Tasting
Saturday, October 27 from 12-3pm
During Saturday’s optional brewery tour, journey to nearby Washburn for a visit to the South Shore Brewery, where you’ll sample their fine beers and take a guided brewery tour. This event and transportation to/from the Brewery is included in the weekend package, or available a’ la carte for /person plus tax and gratuity.

Fall Brew Dinner
Saturday, October 27 from 6:30-8:30pm
Save room for Saturday evening’s 6-Course Fall Brew Dinner where each course is accompanied by a tasty brew selected to compliment the food. Includes appetizer, salad, sorbet, entree and dessert. This event is included in the weekend package, or available a’ la carte for /person plus tax and gratuity.

Saturday Sample Menu (from 2015): APPETIZER: Crispy Cider Braised Pork Belly with Macintosh Apple-Chutney. SOUP: Smoked kielbasa and cabbage. SALAD: Watercress and radish salad with Ale vinaigrette. SORBET: Apple Pilsner Sorbet. ENTREES: Schweinebraten with sweet and sour red cabbage and spaetzle OR Braised Chicken with cider-red wine demi glace & sweet potato puree. DESSERT: Prinzregententorte (A Bavarian torte layered with chocolate buttercream, topped with apricot jam and covered in dark chocolate glaze).
